Global Expansion

In September 2004, Waters Instruments acquired Rutland Electric Fencing Co., the largest manufacturer of electric fencing products in the United Kingdom. This acquisition will enable Waters and its Zareba Systems division to quickly gain a foothold in the United Kingdom and to develop sales throughout Europe.

The benefits of the Zareba/Rutland combination include established brand name recognition in the global marketplace as well as an established security business. The acquisition also provides a platform to launch other Zareba products currently in development, such as gate openers and the Guard Tower™ taut wire security fence.

Founded in 1973 in the county of Rutland, the company is known for its Electric Shepherd fence energizers and full range of fence accessories which are sold to the farming and equestrian markets.

Due to an increasing demand for more effective industrial perimeter fencing, Rutland developed the IP Induced Pulse range of energizers and products for electric perimeter fencing.

The IP Induced Pulse perimeter fencing has been installed in the United Kingdom, United States, Europe and the Middle East, solving perimeter security problems for builders, merchants, distribution companies, automotive dealers and car lots, among others.
