Waters Medical Systems
Leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of organ preservation
and whole blood oximetry products. The RM3 Renal Preservation System
uses pulsatile perfusion technology to regulate the pressure, flow
and temperature of the kidneys prior to transplant. Oxicom whole
blood oximeters provide data on the oxygen saturation of the patient’s
blood.
FY2004 Highlights
Fiscal Year 2004 Sales: $2.6 million
13th consecutive year of profitability.
Received CE Mark for Oxicom products.
Introduced new RM3 single kidney cassette.

Pulsatile Preservation
Waters Medical Systems has been the leader in pulsatile preservation
technology since 1971. With over 55,000 patients in the United
States waiting to receive a kidney transplant, the RM3 renal perfusion
device maintains kidney function between the time of recovery
and transplantation. The state-of-the-art alternative to cold
storage, the RM3 provides medical teams with organ performance
data, potentially expanding the organ donor pool. Perfusion with
the RM3 results in improved kidney function, shorter hospital
stays, speedier patient recovery and reduced health care costs.
As always, Waters continues to be an active participant in the
organ transplant community. During the year, the company established
an award to recognize those who have increased the understanding
and/or advancement of organ preservation. Known as the ‘Waters
Medical Systems Preservation Award,’ it will be presented
to an individual or group at the International Society for Organ
Preservation’s annual Wetlab/Symposium.

| Whole
Blood Oximetry
Through its Medical Systems division, Waters is also the leading
designer, manufacturer and marketer of whole blood oximetry products.
Since 1988, the division’s Oxicom® family of whole blood
oximeters has been the worldwide leader in cardiac catheterization
laboratories. And with over a half-million saturation samples measured
every year, the Oxicom series is a proven system and a vital part
of any cardiac catheterization lab.
In June 2004, Waters received the CE Mark for its Oxicom 2100 and
3000 whole blood oximeters, which will enable the company to sell
the products to the 25 European Union and three European Free Trade
Association member states. The division’s RM3 renal perfusion
devices received the CE Mark in 1999. The designations will enable
Waters to distribute both of these product lines throughout the
European marketplace. |
